Tribute & Message From The Family

MAYSON
Catharine Johnson Mayson, of Cheltenham Village passed away on October 8th 2020 at the age of 98. She was the daughter of James V. Johnson and Edna
Houldin Johnson. Cathy was the loving wife of Herbert C. Mayson for 39 years. Cathy was the caring mother to Mark V. Mayson (Susan) and Dane C. Mayson
(Michele). Cathy leaves behind an impressive legacy in her six grandchildren; Kendra (David), Kathleen (Phil), Colin (Katie), Justin, Taylor, and Jake, as well as her three great grandchildren; Aubrey, Nora, and Elizabeth.

Cathy grew up on Central Avenue, and was very active in her community of Cheltenham Village. She made lifelong friends in her early years as everyone's
Family collectively experienced the Great Depression and the Second World War. These lifelong friends would become known locally as "The Club."With this group of close friends she shared many pleasant times which included family picnics and parties on New Year's Eve. Cathy was a member of Cheltenham United Methodist Church where she held leadership roles, and helped teach Sunday school for years. As a young lady Cathy worked at the Cheltenham National Bank and later at the Denny Electrical Supply company. Cathy enjoyed spending vacations with Herb and her children whenever they could. Some of her favorite places included Sea Isle City and the Pocono Mountains. Her optimistic approach and faith allowed her to meet a number of physical and emotional challenges presented throughout her life. An independent woman, following the passing of Herb she rebuilt a life full of activity with her many friends and family. It is true that Cathy was happiest when she was surrounded by the many generations of her family. She will always be remembered for the unconditional love she shared throughout her life, her deep and abiding faith, the hosting of those wonderful family dinners each Sunday and at holiday time as well as the joy and pride with which she greeted all accomplishments and family milestones.

Private family services were held for Cathy. Relatives and friends are invited to reach out to the Mayson families to share words of comfort and stories of Cathy.
